They would look at candidate that has their CCIE and would pay more for that certification (85K-120K) however, they feel that they just need the CCVP background(65k-85K) Job Description: PURPOSE OF POSITION State briefly, in one or two sentences, the principal purpose of this position. Why does it exist? What is it paid to accomplish? The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for technical training and technology research . He/she assists in assigning appropriate resources to tasks; works with the sales and engineering teams to design and quote project work; and consults with manufacturers, vendors, and other technicians to successfully deploy and service projects including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting as defined in Scopes of Work to meet customer goals. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (minimum requirements) Education, credentials, licenses: Bachelors Degree in computer-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, valid driver's license, vehicle in good repair, industry recognized certifications in networking and security Specialized knowledge: CCVP or CCIE. Planning, organization, and training capabilities. Kind and length of experience: 7-10 Years worth of Network Architecture, Engineering, and Implementation Experience. 3-5 Years of direct management experience. SCOPE OF POSITION This position reports to (by title): Director of Operations The following reports directly to this position (by title): Network Engineer, Senior Network Engineer, Wireless Engineer. Total number of FTE's reporting to this position: 7 Annual operating budget: Salaries and tools as depicted in the Operations department Budget for the network engineering team. Other measures of accountability: Project Margins, Customer Satisfaction, Utilization/Realization Rates POSITION PROGRESSION Jobs from which employee may be promoted: Senior Network/Voice/Security Engineer, Network Engineer Jobs employee may transfer laterally to or from: Infrastructure Department Supervisor Jobs employee may be promoted to from this job: Director of Operations, Director of Engineering, Director of Sales RESPONSIBILITIES · Oversee installation network equipment per network design and Scope of Work, according to quality and safety levels set by Director of Operations · Engage in technical planning to ensure meet manufacturer requirements for technical training and certifications. · Manage and direct teams of technicians/network engineers. · Engage in annual operating plan SWOT process. Provide input into strategic plans and lead effort towards achievement of operational strategic technology goals. · Provide training for customers based on products and services defined in Scope of Work · Provide training and support for Network department for network-related subjects · Provide technical support and design assistance to the Engineering and Sales departments · Evaluate new products for use in customer projects. Make recommendations of solutions and technologies. Champion recommendations through Manufacturer review committee. · Develop documentation, including procedures, map templates, and inventory templates, to support existing and future projects · Support internal network-related needs as required · Advise Director of Operations on technical issues related to projects and personnel · Assist all other technicians with their responsibilities whenever possible · Maintain up-to-date company documentation · Occasional defined on-call responsibilities · Act as a backup to Director of Operations ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. Describe the working conditions. Areas to consider: physical environment, schedule, work demands, travel demands. Working conditions vary based on customer site. Mostly indoor work. Heavy lifting required during installations. Automobile travel will be required to oversee network installations. Hours vary from 40 to 55 hours per week, including occasional evenings and/or weekends based on customer requirements. Requires very good cognitive abilities, including the ability to learn quickly, adapt technologies to different situations, and visualize network-related issues. Also requires good communication skills for customer service issues, including training in a classroom environment. 2. Describe the essential tools required for this position: · Cellular phone · ID badge with security access level determined by Director of Operations · Laptop/notebook computer with network interface card and modem · Console cables for assorted routers/switches · Microsoft Office Suite · Visio · Q360 · E-mail account · Web browser · User level account Access · Internet access · VPN Access to resources Top Three Criteria: Ideally, looking for CCVP Bachelor's "Bunch of supervisory / management experience
